This little cowboy is dear to my heart. This image was the initial seed that finally grew into what Handsome Annie is today and is still becoming. Right around the time I discovered Solarfast, (the light sensitive dye that is used in my work), I was going through boxes of old photographs that I took down from my mother’s closet. It was March and still quite winter in Oregon. For a couple of weeks, every evening around cocktail hour, I would pour myself a glass of scotch, light the big, bright oil lamp, and look through the old photos. There were thousands of photos and many old letters too. This photo is one of the gems discovered. This is a photograph of my father dressed up as a little cowboy, in the early 1950's. It's cute as a button but also has a special significance for me.
